Let's not pretend: being born as conjoined twins makes for a challenging life. To say the least. But that was the harsh reality for Freddy and Falco Fulchrist from Akaroa, New Zealand. In many ways, they were lucky, because compared to other conjoined twins, they functioned quite well. Above the waist, they had double sets of everything, but below that... Well, that was a different story. But at least they could walk, if they could agree on a direction. Freddy and Falco had very different personalities, coupled with a terribly short temper. So they not only argued frequently, but sometimes even got physical. Although landing the right punch could be tricky. At one point, they had enough and booked a flight to Thailand, where a local surgeon claimed he could separate them. Halfway through, however, he had to give up, leaving a huge scar between them that would last forever. But with Christmas approaching, the tensions between the twins always disappeared, because loving Christmas was the only thing they could agree on. And every year, the posh department store Ballantynes of Christchurch hired them as the world's only Siamese Santa Claus. And the children loved them, because they received twice the attention and twice the promises of Christmas gifts. And that's the moral of the story:
